Will Book Orange Co., NC D-101 August 1803 lists the following: Supposed Son William Brown Mebane. Other Heirs: Wife (Rebecca), Brothers James and David, nephew Robert Murdock. Exec: Brother James and Father-in-Law Benjamin Raney. The only other connection with William Brown Mebane is mention of him in a letter.


William was issued land warrant #2578 in February 1791 as the heir at law of brother Robert Mebane who had served and died in the Revolutionary War. The land warrant was for 500 acres in the military district of Ohio.
