[Alamance County_Feb 2006_backup.FTW] Is she really a daughter of Alexander Mebane or is she a sister? I know there is record of correspondence between Sarah's son William Lytle and Alexander Mebane (do not know if I or II). The William Lytle papers are in Manuscripts Department, Library of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, SOUTHERN HISTORICAL COLLECTION, #445 WILLIAM LYTLE PAPERS p.80, 18 September 1779, Sarah LYTLE widow of the late Robert LYTLE of Orange to Thomas BURKE of same, Attorney at Law, five hundred pounds, relinquishes all her right, title, and claim property and estate of dower to a tract of land in county aforesd. which Thomas BURKE purchased of her[?] late husband Robert LYTLE 14 June 1774; signed Sarah (+) LYTLE; witness: Jane (X) HILL, Enoch COLLINS;proved 9 October 1778 before John WILLIAMS judge of Superior Court by Enoch COLLINS. |
