SCMAR, Vol. II, Summer 1974, No. 3, p.118 The entire Henry family was remembered for its Whig sympathies. In 1839 the Battle of Huck's Defeat (which took place July 12, 1780, at Williamson's plantation in York County) was commemorated in a celebration at Brattonsville. The published Proceedings of that occasion record that the 26th toast of the day was drunk (with spring waterl) to “Wm Henry and his four sons, William, Malcolm, John, and Alexander, true patriots, brave and fearless soldiers.” This datum is probably the origin of the claim that William Henry was a soldier in the Revolution. However the pamphlet contains a note which makes it clear that the persons named in this toast did not participate in the Battle of Huck's Defeat, but “were engaged in other battles.”[26]

HENRY, William Moore, In memory of, who departed this life, Feb 1806, aged 3 months and 4 days Could this William belong to William and Rosannah Moore Henry?

In Lost Tribes of NC by Worth S Ray the following information is given: Rosannah's husband William Henry Jr was stated as being related to the Miss Gulick who became the wife of William Moore, brother of Rosannah.

The info on RosannahMoore was from book above , in Mecklenberg Co NC. The pension statement of John Henry, her brother in law stated that he was born in Mecklenberg NC, showing proximity of the two families. and..

James and Rachel Moore, Rosannah's brother and sister in law owned land (see James Moore deed to John Moore ( in James notes) in York Co SC in 1766.

n LDS film # 1985730, a Rosanna Mc Cord was listed as wife of William,Jr and mother of Rosanna Moore, b abt 1757. Since there is no other evidence at this time , I will leave the family group sheet as is-(May 24, 2001.

Dear Dee, I have a large chart drawn by my great grandfather prior to his death in 1926 that shows Rosannah McCord married William Moore of old Lincoln (now Gaston)Co NC. This is a nearly contemptoranius account as Dr Moore had been working on family history since the 1880s, only about 50 years past William's death. I donated a copy of the chart to the Brevard Station Museum in Stanley NC and the Charlotte Public Library. This William Moore was the first born of our immigrant ancestor John Moore. John and four sons served in the Revolution. I have recently found an obituary for John in the Raleigh Minerva, so I know he was born in 1719, but before June 30th, and died June 30, 1806. William was born during his father's brief stay in (Bucks Co., as the legend goes) PA. William's birthday was 9/5/1751 and he died 4/15/1839. He is buried at Olney Church cemetery next to Rosannah Moore, who, by the way, was his second wife. Her stone reads "Rosannah Moore died Sept. 28, 1835 age 70 years". I hope this is your girl, but I don't have the remarriage. The name Cloyd pops up in our tree later, but for a different reason. It comes from Uriah Cloyd, turns out William's great niece was named Rosannah Moore (born August 8, 1828) and married Uriah on May 24, 1848 and lived in Caswell Co NC. I am a fifth generation descendant of her brother Isaac Hudson Moore. If this is a match I would love to see what you have on Rosannah McCord. I am searching for the origins of all Scots Irish who might have lived with the Moores in Ireland (ie Dicksons, Adairs, Alexanders, McCords, etc). Sincerely, Walt Moore PS In rereading Minnie Van Valin's book on our Moores, the children of William are not very well known. Two daughters, Mary and Miriam, married and remained near the homeplace, but Robert, Ezekiel, Lemuel and Wallace must have moved away. In William's Revolutionary War pension affadavit, he states he owns his father's Bible. It probably left town with one of the sons. What I wouldn't give to look at it, now!!!

Tom, The connection came with Dee and her responses, I believe, to emails about a Rosannah McCord who married Capt. William Moore of Linclon Co NC (now Gaston). My connection is that Wm is the brother of my ancestor, Alexander Moore. It has been alleged that his father, the immigrant John Moore, also married a Rosannah McCord, but I have never seen proof of that. I apologize for not making the connection clear. The Rosannah Moore who married Uriah Cloyd was Dee's interest, but she is also a Moore relation, though not a direct McCord desecendant. She is a grand daughter of Alexander Moore. Sincerely, Walt Moore PS Know anything about Rosannah McCord's ancestors?
