Will of William Doran

WILL of William Doran, written September 19, 1834; recorded January 12, 1835

In the Name of God, Amen, I, William Doran, of the County of Rutherford and State of Tennessee, although weak in body but of sound and perfect understanding and memory do constitute this my last will and testament. After all my just debts are paid,

ITEM THE FIRST I wll that my property remain just as it is for the benefit of the family as long as my beloved wife sees proper, at which time I do will and bequeath to my wife Polly Doran one negro woman Rain, for also her choice of two horses of the stock of horses, two cows and calves, ten heads of sheep, a sufficiency of hogs for one years maintenance. Also the mansion, housewood and water, will one third of the land with half of the household and kitchen furniture for even.

ITEM 2 I do will and bequeath to my son James Gardin one hundred dollars out of the sale of the land.

ITEM 3 I do will and bequeath to my son Alexander twenty dollars out of the sale of the land.

ITEM 4 I do will and bequeath to my son Samuel six hundred dollars out of the land.

ITEM 5 I do will and bequeath that my five youngest daughters, Polly, Manerva, Rebecca and Vina be made equal with the rest of the sisters.

ITEM 6 I do further will that my two negroes Mary and Green with the balance of the property, personal and real, be sold and the money arising from the sales with the four hundred dollars for I ask be divided equally between my six daughters, Peggy Bain, Nancy McKnight, Elizabeth Doran, Sally A McKnight, Polly Manerva Armstrong, Rebecca T Doran. :ITEM 7 I do further will that the sixth part that my daughter Elizabeth draws be put out to interest in the hands of a Guardian and for her to draw it only as she needs it.

I do further make and ordain my beloved wife Polly, Alexander Doran and Samuel T Doran, my two sons, my executors to execute this my last will and testament.
