Last Will and Testament of William Dean In the name of God amen I William Dean of Augusta County and Colony of Virginia being weak and frail in Body but sound in memory and in Judgment Calling to mind the Mortality of this Present state I do therefore think it fit to dispose of such Worldly Goods as it hath Pleased God to favour me with I do therefore order that my Body be buried in a decent & Christian manner at the expense of my Estate at the Discretion of my Dear Wife & my Executor hereafter named whom I doubt not that will Manage it with all requisite Prudence as to my Worldly estate I will and Personally Order that all my Lawfull debts be paid

Item. I give to my dear & Loving Wife for term of life his house whereon I now dwell with the furniture and the land with the stock of Every kind thereupon and at her death ask it to be Disposed of as she shall think fit only the land is to return to my Daughter Mary her heirs and Assigns forever only she must pay to my youngest Daughter Elizabeth her heirs ot assigns the sum of Forty Pounds

Item I will that five Shillings Sterling be Paid to my Son John

Item I will that five Pound be paid to my son Adam his heirs or assigns out of my moveable Estate above Willed to my dear and Loving Wife in Cash or such Effects as she shall think Proper and him only I do Constitute & appoint my sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament & trustee for my wife and Children

In Witness whereunto I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Seventeenth day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven Hundred and Seventy one

At a court held for Augusta County August the 17th 1773 This last Will and Testament of William Dean deceased was Proved by the Oath of Samuel McClung and Sarah Bourland two of the witnesses _______ and ordered to be Recorded (and Adam Dean the Executor therein named having refused to take upon him the Burden of the Execution of this said Will) and on the motion of Sarah Dean the Widow who made oath according to law Certificate is Granted her for obtaining Letters of Administration with the Will _______ she having with securitys entered into and Acknowledged their Bond according to Law. Teste Know all men by these Presents that we Sarah Dean Adam Dean and Samuel McClung are held and firmly bound unto John ________ _________________ __________________ Commissioners of the Peace for Augusta County for and in behalf of the Justices of the said County & their ___________ in the sum of five Hundred pounds to be ______________ ______________________________upon which payment______________________________________________________________________________ any of our heirs Executors and Administrators jointly or severally firmly by these Present make with our seals & dated this 17th day of August 1773 The Condition of this obligation is _______ _______ that of the above bound Sarah Dean Executrix with the Will _____________ of the last Will and Testament of William Dean Deceased and do make or cause to be made a true _________ Inventory of all and Singular the goods Chattles & Credits of the said deceased which however shall come to the hands Possession or _________ _________ of ________ __________ Sarah or in the hands or Possession of any other Person or Persons for her ________ ________ is made do ______ or cause to be ___________ into the County Court of Augusta at such time as she shall thereunto be required by this said Court and ________ goods Chattles & Credits & all other goods Chattles & Credits of the said deceased which at any time after shall come to the Lands or Possession of the said Sarsh or into the hands or Possession of any other Person or Persons for __________ well and ________ Administer according to law and furth do make a true & Just Account of the _______ & Doings therein when thereunto required by this said Court & also do well & truly pay & Deliver all Legacies _________
