Acquisition of Land from Chalkley's:

  • Page 260.--19th May, 176l. Robert Turk and Marget ( ) Turk, his wife, to Adam Dean, £140, 160 acres on southeast side South River, part of tract patented to Robert, 6th September, 1736. Teste: Robert and Thomas Turk, James Davison.

Adam Dean and Eleanor, his wife, to Charles Teas, 5 sh., 310 acres on South River, part of a tract patented to Robert Turk, 6th September, 1736; corner to Robert Turk's land; corner John Patrick's line. Teste: Wm. Teas, Jno. Dean, Samuel Kinkade. Delivered: Charles Teas, September, 1766.

Montgomery County, VA, Deeds and Wills A, p 122:

...I allow my wife and family to live together on lands I now possess in this County: And that all profits arising therefrom may be converted to the Support and Education of my family as long as my wife shall see cause to live in that situation, or for Life or Widowhood and if it should be her future to marry and incline to remove from that way of living she is then to betake her dowry allowed by law after having her Dowry Setled in the estate of her first Deceast Husband which is not yet done: ....work horses, farming utentials, negro Tom, negroes belonging to stepchildren....Negroes to work for support of family until wife's dowry laid off and Heirs is of age.
Negro Tom to son Robert Love Dean.
Daughter Ally, one English mare known as the gold filley, a good feather bed and furniture.
Daughter Elizabeth a sorrel filly and bed. Stock to be divided "amoung my small rising family" when needed.
Land of 400-500 acres quantity not known it not yet being patent, that I entered into agreement with Thomas Madison, John Preston and Jas. Newell: to give them my bond for three fourths of a stone that they supposed to be gold oar which I allow executors to comply with.
Lands in Montgomery County to sons James, Joseph and Robert Love.
Executors can sell and "out of value of said lands if sold my Daughter Mary Cleonar and Anna: I allow them one third of the profits." Stepdaughter Margret Edmiston one black filly.
Land in Kentucky to James and son-in-law John Husten.
