    William Covington, b. Maryland, post 1735, d. 13 Apr 1778. Served in the Continental Army as a Lieutenant, enlisting 28 Mar 1777. His elder brother John Covington was his heir-at-law and the Military Land Warrant No. 1827 to William Covington, 2560 acres in Sumner Co., TN, located 30 Nov 1792, was deeded over by John Covington to Henry William Harrington, under Call No. 781. William Covington apparently d.s.p.
