    John Covington, eldest son of the immigrant Henry Covington, b. ca. 1710, d. in 1767 at the family plantation,"Providence", in Queen Annes Co., Md. In his will (Queen Annes Co. Wills, Liber 36, folios 2-3) he makes bequests to his wife and all ten of his children, who received the equivalent of 20 pounds currency in silver and other personal property. The two oldest sons James and John, Jr. were given the estate lands. All of his children eventually came to N. C.
