Probably the youngest child of John Covington and mary Airey. In 1780 granted 200 acres of land on Cattail Branch of Gum Swamp, richmond Co., NC (Grant No. 388, Deed Book D, p. 147). Married twice. Deed Book V, p. 290, Anson Co., gives a list of his children who, in 1828, were selling his estate.
