Henry Covington, son of John Covington, Sr. and Mary Airey, b. ca 1736, Queen Annes Co., Md., d. ca 1805. Had been left part of the family plantation "Providence", which lay "on the west side of the main branch of Tuckahoe Creek, on the north side of Mathew Smith's Branch . . ." (Queen Annes Co. Liber RT No F, fol 119). In 1767 he and wife sold land in Maryland to William Hunter (Queen Annes Co. Liber RT, No. II, folio 126). In same year they bought land in Anson Co., NC from Lawrence and Frances O'Brien, which lay " . . on Naked Creek, east of the Pee Dee River". (Anson Co. Deed Book 1, p. 176). When he died he owned about 1000 acres of land, and in the estate settlement record (Richmond Co. Deed Book G, p. 236) he deeded land to his sons and heirs.
