Lucky Wet was living with her husband and his parents on the 1900 census.

News clipping, Jackson, MI Friday, April 12, 1963

Mrs. Welthea Vail is 97 years old and remembers the good old days when a horse and buggy were the main means of transportation. Now a resident of the Faith Haven Nursing Home, 6531 W. Michigan, Mrs. Vail was taken for a pony ride in the cart driven by Mervin Ganton, owner of the nursing home. Mrs. Vail will be 98 on December 10. She was born near Howell, and lived most of her life in Pinckney, and taught school for many years. Her husband, a Presbyterian minister, died in 1931. She has one niece, Mrs. Clifford Buttelman of Horton.

Medical and family records differ as to Welthea's birth date: she considered it to be one year later, 1864. Reverend Vail was from Cincinnati, Ohio. His final pastorate was in Elk Rapids, MI. He died there in 1931.

According to a news clipping, Welthea was born at Milford and moved to Pinckney in 1892. She taught school in Horton and Elmira, where she met her husband. She was buried at the Pinckney Cemetery, with services at the Greiner Funeral Home, Rev. Douglas Carter officiating.
