From the History of Tuscarawas County, 1988: Born in Stonecreek Valley near Blackband, Clarence was a twin son of Tobias and Mary Wenger Kuhn, who settled in Tuscarawas County in 1803.

This fact appears to be wrong, as Tobias's parents (John Philip Kuhn and Catherine Benfer Kuhn) were married in Tuscarawas county (Tusc. co. marriage records).

In 1880 Tusc. Co. census, Tobias is 47, a farmer, married to Mary A., age 35. Children at home were Anna C. -13 Sarah E.-11 George E.-9 Charles A.-7 Homer E.-2

So, Mary, Robert, Clarence and Norman were all born after 1880.

At the time of his death he was a widower.
