Obituary published: The Daily Times, New Philadelphia, OH 21 Oct 1937

OBIT:PROMINENT COAL MINER DIES UNDER ROCK-BODY CAN'T BE RELEASED FOR 2 HOURS-Second Rock Fall Menaces Worker-HEAD IS CRUSHED-Victim's Brother Worked Nearby Charles Kuhn, 63, lifelong resident of Tuscarawas county and prominent coal miner, was instantly killed at 9 A.M. today when he was crushed by a fall of rock in the truck mine operated by Clyde Wallick, Columbia Vicinity, in Dover township, four miles west of Dover off the Sugarcreek road. (here I have edited out much of the article) Mr. Kuhn, in addition to working as a pick miner, was watchman at the mine and for the past three years had lived alone in a small shack near the mouth of the mine. Mr. Kuhn was born at Black Band Stonecreek road and was a son of the late Tobias and Mary Wenger Kuhn. He resided in that vicinity most of his life but at one time had resided in this city. Mr. Kuhn's body was removed to the Toland Funeral Home in Dover. Surviving are two brothers, George Kuhn, Dover, and former Safety Director, Clarence Kuhn, Dennison. His brother, George E. Kuhn, 66, died last July 29 at his home at 1011 Maple Ave. NW this city. Mr. Kuhn was confirmed in Jerusalem Reformed church in Stonecreek Valley. He spent the greater part of his life in Stonecreek Valley
