Facts and Events
Birth is listed in the William Dugger family bible:
Special thanks to Tom Ward for sharing data on this family. Thomas Dugger obtained a marriage bond in Carter Co, TN on 24 Dec 1822 to marry Hannah Pierce, his step-sister. They married on 26 Dec 1822 (Thanks to Tom Ward for the marriage date). Thomas Dugger was listed on the 1830 census in Carter Co, TN next door to this father William Dugger. His wife's age was way off on this census. Analysis:
Thomas Dugger was named in his father William Dugger's Will of 10 Apr 1839 as "my son Thomas Dugger". Thomas was listed on the 1840 census in Carter Co, TN, near Mary Hall Dugger, widow of his uncle Julius Dugger. Analysis:
On the 1850 census, Thomas Dugger and family were listed in Carter Co, TN between his brother William C. Dugger and his 1st cousin Margaret Dugger, daughter of Julius Dugger.
Thomas' brother William Copeland Dugger applied for a Pension on behalf of himself and his siblings, as heirs of Revolutionary War soldier William Dugger, their father. Filed 9 Jun 1853 (# R 3109), he named the surviving heirs of William, and included Thomas as "Thomas, age 55," and listed him as a son of William by his "first" wife Nancy Millard (who was actually his second wife). Thomas and family had moved to neighboring Washington Co, TN before 1860, and were listed there on the 1860 census. Thomas and family left TN for Vermillion Co, Indiana in the early 1860's and listed there on the 1870 census. Thomas Dugger died either 1876 or 1878 in Vermillion Co, IN (per Tom Ward) and Hannah died there 29 Oct 1883 (per Tom Ward). They are buried at the Andrew Cemetery (again, per Tom Ward). |
