Facts and Events
No evidence proves the maiden name of Sarah, wife of John Price Jr. Many online trees contain false information which can be shown by research in original documents. John Price Sr. applied for a land warrant and survey in Augusta County in 1749. Then at the time of the French and Indian War the family removed to Culpeper County for safety where son Sampson was born. Following the French and Indian War the family returned to what was then Frederick County, having purchased 290 acres from Lawrence Garr in the Marksville District. This is documented in the Revolutionary War Pension applications of Thomas Price and Sampson Price and the Deeds of Frederick and Shenandoah County. Interactions with family and associates include Mungo Price, Ann Price, wife of Samuel Short and second John Breeding, Zachariah Price and Solomon Rion. Except for the few years in Culpeper County, John Price Jr. lived his entire life in what is now known as Shenandoah County. Those families suggested as in laws resided in totally different areas. The John Price born in 1749, died 1807, and resident of Stafford County was married to Susannah Jones and second Elizabeth Gaddes. I find no Sarah Barrow in Shenandoah County. |
