Acquisition of Land from Virginia Northern Neck Land Grants:

  • H-737: Samuel Hening of Culpeper County, 400 acres in said County in Gr. Fork of Rappahannack River. Surv. George Hume. On South side of Stoneridge's Run, adj. John Towles, George Martain, Thos.     Aside from these Herrings, a Samuel Herring is mentioned as an appraiser on the Augusta records, May 22nd, 1755, but whether of not he was direct from Ireland is not known. (See Judgements Circuite Causes Ended, and Order Book 14, p. 429, Chalkley, Vol. II, pg. 144, p. 67).
