In a few months he went to Starke County to work on the farm of Jacob Emory where he contin ued for four and a half years at the wage of $12.00 per month. During thaat time, he went to IA and purchased land of the Government at $1.25 per acre. Which he still owns. On March 11, 1857, he was married to Maria Eva Stanley near Victoria, Knox Co., IL, in 1867 they went to IA and settled on the farm which he had purchased . He united with the Methodist Church in 1905...'Uncle Bob & Aunt Maria, as we called them, were friends to everyone who wished to do right; but they had not countenance for decit or untruthfullness. When they lmade an assertion, we all knew it to be the truthl Their home was always, the headquarters for love, peace and good cheer, as well as for hospitality. Uncle Robert was raised a farmer and always farmed (spelling???)inJusLrio,,i!;Iv, and while he was raised between two rows of corn, he was no 'Pumkin'. He taught farming to his sons and they all grew up to be successful farmers. He never aspired to office, I don't think he ever held a public office unless it was school director or road supervisor, and I think he got out of that as soom as possible. Truthfullness and strict honesty was his motto and he never debiated from it. Aunt Maria was one of God's noblewoman. She loved her children, her friends and her Saviour, and she pittied her enemies, if she had any which I douby. She was for many years, and at the time of her death, a member of the Methodist Church and a happy Christian. She died assured of a blessed immortality, always having been a good wife and mother and making her hnome a model of love and industry.

Copied from internet - submitter - Linda Mauregard The 1880 Iowa census puts Robert N. at 49 years old. Robert N. Lambertson is buried in Murray Cemetary by the side of his wife, Maria Eva, and his 3 children. HISTORY OF CLARKE COUNTY, IOWA 1886 ROBERT N. LAMBERTSONRobert N. Lambertston farmer and stock-raiser, residing on section 33, Troy Township, was born November 30, 1830, inDearborn County, Indiana, a son of John Lambertson, who is now deceased. His father was a native of Delaware County, Maryland, and an early settler of Dearborn County, Indiana, locating there on a heavily -timbered tracked of land, and there endured all the hardships and privations of pioneer life. Robert N. Lambertson was reared on the home farm, and in his youth attended the log cabin subscription schools with their puncheon floors, slab seats and clapboard roof, in which he received the rudiments of an education. In April of 1852, he went to Sangamon County, Illinois, making the journey from his native county by wagon, he having never even seen a railroad till that year. Four months later he removed to Peoria, of the same State, and the following January he went to Stark County, Illinois. He was married March 11, 1857, to Maria E. Stanley, a daughter of John Stanley. They have had nine children born to them - Frank E., Carrie A., William N., Nellie M., James C., Charles, Roy and Fannie E. While living in Illinois Mr. Lambertson worked by the year for Jacob Emery, for a period of seven years, and for seven years was engaged in farming of his own account. He left Stark County in September, 1867, since which he has made his home in Clarke County, Iowa. On leaving his native State he had but $10.75, and was obliged to drive a team to defray the expenses of his passage to Illinois and his board. He has now 440 acres of choice land, which he has accumulated by his own industry and persevering energy, and to-day he is classed among the prosperous citizens of Troy Township. Mrs. Lambertson is a member of the Methodist Episcopal church.
