Robert and May are most likely the parents of Aura Bendle Wilson. If there had been a surviving 1890 census, it would have shown parents of Aura since she was born in 1885. Aura did have an older sister Florence and the child Florence Bendle in the 1880 census was the only Florence Bendle in the Ohio census of the right age to be an older sister. Family lore is that both parents died sometime before twins, Aura and May, were placed in an orphanage. Aura told her children and grandchildren that she was adopted when she was about 5-6 years old by Cyrus and Katie Wilson. So she and May had been placed in the orphanage before her father died. Robert died in Cardington 1895 according to the death records. That would have left Florence, age 15, Henry, age 13-14, Aura and May, age 10. Perhaps they were placed in the Cleveland orphanage when their mother died and Robert had been unable to care for his children in about 1890.
