I have many ties to Chautauqua County, New York, where I grew up. Many of my family lines have been in Chautauqua County dating back to the early 1800's. Several of the lines migrated to western New York from Vermont and Massachusetts and have been in the country since before 1776 although my documentation on those lines is still ongoing.

I decided to add family lines slowly to WeRelate.org so I can add their photos and make sure my documentation is adequate for each family. Usually I need to better document what I had in my genealogy software so I am reviewing census records and filling out the sources as I enter families.

I love genealogy. I was first hooked when I listened to my grandfather tell me stories of growing up on a small farm, and his first job away from home. I wish I had written the stories down but I was young and thought I would always remember what he told me. I'm slowly piecing together stories for my ancestors and I'm very grateful for WeRelate where I can share the stories, some photos, and possibly connect with cousins.

My husband's family lines are mainly from Lycoming County, Pennsylvania: Newcomer, Reed, and Stryker. His Baxter line is from Penn Yan, New York. I have picked up my pace of entering my husband's GEDCOM's now that I have experience with my parents' lines. I also don't have as much information, photos or family stories for his family. I would love if someone related could help out.

I've been working for over a year slowly entering GEDCOM's of individual family lines, plus photos and stories, and I think I have entered all that I have! (February 2011)

Thank you to all of the volunteers with WeRelate.org.
