Rebeckah Anderson McNutt was the daughter of John McNutt and Katherine Anderson. She was born in Virginia. Since her gravestone says she died Jan 1818, aged 63 years, I have estimated her birth year as ABOUT 1755.

She married John McCorkle (1745 - 17 Jan 1781) in Virginia. He served under Col. Morgan and was promoted from ensign to Lieutenant.

They had five known McCorkle children:

    "William," dates unknown
    Alexander, 7 Aug 1773 (m 1 Jan 1794, Mildred Welch), below
    John, abt 1775*
    Samuel, abt 1775 - 1825 or 1778 - 1833 (m 1804 Katharine McCluer)
    Catherine, 3 May 1781 (m 19 Apr 1804 Jos Walker), below

In Jan 1781, she lost her father, her brother Robert and her first husband, John McCorkle, in the Battle at Cowpens in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. Poor gal! The battle took place 17 Jan 1781 where McCorkle's wrist was wounded. He died there of infection or gangrene. Another source ** says it was his "thumb, which caused lock-jaw, from which he died in a few days."

Widowed, she married second to Arthur Glasgow in "about 1782."

    They had Glasgow children:

Joseph, 14 Oct 1783 (Nancy E McCulloch) below
    John, 27 Dec 1785 below
Ann Nancy Campbell, 1788 (Thos McCleland, 1804) below
