    7-4 Phebe McClung. b. Feb. 13, 1765; d. Mar. 23, 1827; m. Nov. 9, 1790, James Houston, b. Nov. 30, 1763; d. Dcc. 7. 1810, son of Matthew Houston and his wife. Martha Lyle. Matthew Houston was a brother of Gen. Sam Houston's grand-father. Phebe McClung's husband was therefore a first cousin of Gen. Sam Houston's father. At least two sous, viz.:
    1-5 James Houston, Jr., h. June 18, 1794; d.; m. Oct. 7, i8i6, Ann Houston. Three children, viz.:
    1-6 Betsy Ann Houston, m. Mr. Means.
    2-6 Phebe Houston, m. John Griffitts, Friendsville, Tenn.
    3-6 Rachel Levenia Houston, in. James Harvey McClung.
