OBITUARY Unknown newspaper February 2, 1979 WATRIN: Peter Anthoy Watrin passed away suddenly in the big County Hospital, Oyen on January 12, 1979. He was born February 17, 1888 at Fairbanks, Iowa U.S.A. His mother passed away when he was an infant, having a family of six. His father later re-married. When Peter was 21, he came to High River with his father and step-mother and their family. The next year he and his father filed on homesteads south-east Oyen. They spent their summers at Oyen and the winters at High River. After his father's accidental death, he moved to Oyen permanently, where he resided until his passing.

 He married Florence Mae Johnstone.  They had one daughter and three sons.  Peter was a founding member of Alberta Wheat Pool, and served on the local school board for many years.  He enjoyed good health until March 1976, when he fell and cracked his hip.

Peter was predeceased by his wife, Florence on September 8, 1978, by three sisters, one brother, three half-sisters and one half-brother. He leaves to mourn his loss one daughter. Clara McLean, three sons, Melvin and Lawrence of Oyen, and Ronald of Edmonton; one sister, Mrs. John (Clara) Brennan, Waterloo, Iowa; five half-sisters, Mrs. Albert (Nora) Baker of Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Viola Cooper, High River, Mrs. Ed. (Margaret) Howery, Edmonton, Mrs. John (Pearl) Bews of Calgary, Mrs. Hank (Elvera) Martens of High River; three half-brothers, Clarence of Lethbridge, Edwin of Bluffton, and Lawrence of High River, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Oyen United Church on Monday January 15, 1979 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Hal Sambell of Hanna Officiating. Interment followed in the Oyen Cemetery. Pallbearers were Charlie Snell, Ralph Svatos, Joe Parenteau, Phil Clampitt, Tom Tracy and Bill Mills. Honorary bearers were Willis Love, Gordon Olds, Bill McDonald, Floyd Bishop and Floyd Horne.


Funeral Card Inforamtion States: Peter Anthony Watrin Service: Monday, January 15, 1979, 2:00 p.m. in the United Church, Oyen with Rev. Hal Sambell, of Hanna United Church, officiating.
