BIRTH:No record of his birth in Fond du Lac Co.(Vital or Church record) His father purchased land in Forest,Fond du Lac Co. 1 Dec 1953.1860 Census Forest,Fond du Lac,WI Nat'l Archives Film #653-1407 shows Nicholas,aged 6,born in WI.(I believe this is Joseph Nicholas, because there is also a listing for Nicholas,aged 17, born in Belgium, who is the older brother. DEATH: I received this info. from Vera Watrin Martens and also from Freda Baker Cormier. FAMILY HISTORY BY FREDA BAKER CORMIER(updated by Lauri Doll) Joseph Nicholas Watrin, son of Joseph and Elizabeth (nee Shoemaker) Watrin, was born 4 July 1854, in Forest, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He came from a family of seven children, five boys and two girls. The children, listed in order of their ages:(as best we know) Nicolas , who died at the age of 17 or 18 in Forest. Elizabeth, married Michael Stringer, resided in Iowa. Mary-Ann, married Nicholas Ocken, resided in Iowa. Joseph Nicholas, married and had twenty-one children. Dominic married Anna Thomas, resided in Minnesota. John who decided to travel west and was never heard from again. Peter married Mary Thomas resided in Minnsota. Joseph Nicholas, married Mary Kauten about 1876/77 and they had six children. The children listed in order of their ages: Elizabeth, born 1878, married William Coffaa, resided in Iowa. Catherine, born 1880, married Frank Pickering, resided in Iowa. Mary Josephine, born 12 Feb 1882, married John Scott, resided in Iowa. Joseph Philip, born in 1885, resided in Iowa. Peter Anthony, married Florence Johnstone, resided in Alberta, Canada. Joseph Nicholas, married Lucinda Cecelia (Fairley), the 14 April 1894, at Fairbank, Iowa. They had fifteen children. The children, listed in order of their ages: Lucinda forn 1895, married Winebert Kemery, resided in High River, Alberta, Canada until her death in 1969. They raised a family of eleven. Nora born 1896, married Albert Baker, had five children and resided in Washington, U.S.A. until her death in 1980. Viola born in 1897, married Alvia (Mike) Cooper, raised five children, and resided in High River, ALberta, Canada until her death in 1981. Johnnie, born 1898, died 1898 in Fairbank, Iowa. Edna born 1899, married John Cooper, raised seven children, resided in the U.S. until her death in 1942. Clarence (Slim), born in 1901, married Nina Hauck, and had three children, died at his retirement home at Penticton, British Columbia, Canada, in 1988. Eddie, born in 1902, married Eyelene Richmond, had four children and died in 1985. Margaret, born in 1904, married George McIntoch and then to Ed Howery and raised six children- now living in Millet, Alberta, Canada. Leo, born in 1907, married Louise Whitford, had one daughter. All three are now deceased, Leo being killed in a car accident in 1930, Florence also passed away in 1930. Lawrence, born in 1909, married Virginia Carothers, raised four children. He worked in the oil fields for many years and resided in High River, Alberta, Canada. Pearl, born in 1910, married John Bews, had four children and now resides in Calgary. The twins Henry and Nicholas, born 3 Oct. 1912, died as a result of a car accident as they where being taken home from the hospital after their births. Vera, born in 1914 in High River, Alberta, Canada, married Hank Martens, and has a family of five and resides in High River. Joseph and Lucinda Watrin and family came from Iowa to the High River District in 1909, Joseph bought land seven miles north-west of High River and moved his family there. This is the land a son, Lawrence later purchased from the family and is residing there today. In the early years, Mr. Watrin rented land in the area and hayed on the Lineham ranch north-west of his farm. The Watrin's had four boys and eight girls. They attended the Tongue Creek School. They became well known for their rodeo riding ability.
