Information on Peter Carter

- Peter Carter was born in Lancaster Co., VA. on May 23, 1706. He was the son of Thomas Carter Jr. and Arabelia Williamson Carter. He married Judith Norris.
- Thomas, Joseph, and Norris settled the Rye Cove and Cove Creek areas of Rye Cove in present day Scott County. They were the founders of Carter's Fort, remembered to this day by DAR markers on the roadsides.
- Peter died in December of 1789 in Fauquier Co., VA. and was a Patriot in the American Revolution.
