Acquisition of Land from Virginia Northern Neck Land Grants 1742-1775, Vol. 2:
- F-278: Mr. Joseph Carter of Lancaster County and his brother, Mr. James Carter of Stafford County had 800 acres in Stafford County purchased of Hugh Gwin Gent of Gloucester County, granted himj 26 Sept. 1726. Resurveyed, shows 337 acres of surplus. An including Deed for 1,137 acres in Stafford County to Joseph Carter, John Carter, & George Carter, sons of aforesaid James Carter dec'd according to will of their father. On Acquia Creek in Parish of Overwharton, Stafford County. Surv. Capt. Joseph Berry for Mr. John Grant. Adj. Thomas Porter. 4 Sept. 1747.
