Paul, son of Abraham or Abram Ross was born at Watertown, Massachusetts in 1777[1]. He moved to Jaffrey with his parents as a young boy (his father was in Jaffrey c 1777) and later he moved to Barre, Vermont. He married 1) Olive Moore who died October 15, 1800 and they had one child, Paul Moore Ross. He married a second wife 2) Tryphena Chandler, Sept 4, 1803. Children by the second wife were Abram, born June 17, 1804, Stephen, b.24 Aug, 1806; Ozias, b. 28 Dec 1811 and John, b. 2 May 1813[1][2].
On January 9, 1794, when problems continued with Great Britian, Paul Ross is listed as one of the nineteen soldiers from Jaffrey who enlisted when called for by Congress. In 1795, a treaty was negotiated with Great Britain by a Mr. Jay, which against the will of the people, was accepted by the senate, and received the signature of the president, thus preventing a war[1].
