Abram Ross, b in 1781, settled on the homestead, and acquired possession of it in 1807, according to the Jaffrey tax records, as his father paid his last real estate tax that year and the following year both farm and personal property were assessed to Abraham, Jr. He continued to live on the homestead until 1819, when he removed from town temporarily, but retained ownership of the farm and livestock until 1825, when he sold it to David Spaulding. From 1825 to 1829 there is no mention of either Abraham Ross, Sr or Jr., but in 1830 the name of Abraham Ross, Jr., reappears on the tax lists. He probably returned in 1829 and settled on the Turnpike between East Jaffrey and Jaffrey Center. He served as highway surveyor. He married in Brighton, Mass., Nov. 12, 1829, Nancy Maynard, born in Sudbury, Mass, Sept 7, 1794, the daughter of Moses and Elizabeth Maynard. She died in Springfield, Mass, March 28, 1876. Abraham died in Jaffrey, Dec 5, 1865 at age 85[8].
