lived in Detroit Migrated to Michigan from Canada probably about 1886 1876 and lived the remainder of her life in the area. During the summer months Nettie and Joseph stayed at their cottage on Cass Lake in Oakland County, and her canoe trips on the lake were Nettie's favorite pastime until reaching an advanced age. After the death of Joseph, Nettie made her home during the winter months with her daughter and son in law, Josie and James Bossardet, for many years. In the early 1940's there was a sort of "family compound" with the families of Nettie's daughter, cousin Amy Helferich Johnson, and Nettie's granddaughter, all surrounding Nettie's lakefront home.
