Moved with Issac to Pacific Northwest in 1902 and were living in Portland Oregon by 1910. Some sources indicate that Liva was born in May 1864. The 1900 census in Detroit indicates she was born in 1865. This census has many errors as it also indicates that she was born in Michigan and that her mother was born in Canada. The birthday book of Liva's daughter, Jeannie Clara Bates, says that Liva was born on Feb. 14 1864. This early 1864 birth date agrees with the 1881 census in Canada which gives her age as 17.
