Facts and Events
Nathan Lusk was one of the Early Settlers of Augusta County, Virginia __________________________ [edit] Early Land Acquisition in Augusta County, VANathan Lusk's land (Beverley Manor SW, # of acres not listed, prior to 21 August, 1746) as shown on the map meticulously drawn by J.R. Hildebrand, cartographer. This map is copyrighted©, used by permission of John Hildebrand, son of J.R. Hildebrand, April, 2009. (Note: this land is apparently mis-labeled as "James Lusk" on the J.R. Hildebrand Map, but since this tract is clearly the only tract that is "corner to Samuel McCutcheon" (to the north-west, as listed in record below) and adjoining John & Mary Cook's tract (to the north, as listed in record below), it is apparently the location of Nathan Lusk's tract). One possible explanation of the mis-labeling on the Hildebrand Map, is that the land in Beverley Manor most likely passed to James (as eldest surviving son) after Nathan Lusk's death, so records after 1748 show James Lusk as the owner of this land, but earlier records clearly show that Nathan Lusk was the original grantee of this tract in Beverley Manor.
"Nathan Lusk acquired land in Augusta County, prior to 21 August, 1746, adjoining the land of Samuel McCutcheon "on Moffett's Creek, near the patent line of Beverley Manor". This land appears to be in the Borden Tract, from the description listed below in "records". [edit] Will of Nathan Lusk
