From the book Tennesse Convicts: Records of the State Penitentiary Ledger 45, p. 94

Moses Lowe from Bledsoe Co. He is 47 years old, weighs 150 lbs. 5'10" high. Born in Washington Co., TN and brought up in Bledsoe Co, Sequatchie Valley, about 15 miles from Pikeville, near Tollett's Mill, (future Cumberland Co., TN) on a tract of land owned by his son, John William D.F. Lowe. Said Lowe has light grey hair, blue eyes, fair skin. His right hand has been injured by the fever, which makes it crooked. Has worked at shoe making. Sentenced 2 yrs. Recieved 7-17-1839. Offense petty larceny. Has made a profession of religion, of the Methodist order.

In the 1840 Census of Bledsoe Co., TN is a Ruby Lowe 0101-203001 in the same area as the other Lowes. This is most likely Moses's wife.

He was discharged in 1842. Fair conduct.

I am working on the Aquilla Lowe family from Knox County, Tennessee for our Lowe DNA project at Family Tree DNA in Houston. His son Isaac settled in Sabine County, Texas around 1828. We have two Lowe men from this family in our FTDNA Lowe DNA project.

In working thru the various censuses, I came across this unknown Lowe family in Sabine County in 1850..
