From the July 24, 1957, edition of the Dubuque (IA) Telegraph Herald Maurice L. (Mossie) Donovan Maurice L. (Mossie) Donovan, 65, 61 Bluff St., cattle buyer for the Dubuque Packing Co., died at 4:30 pm Tuesday at Mercy Hospital after a short illness. Friends may call after 7 pm at the Hoffmann Mortuary, from where services will be held at 9 am Friday to St. Raphael's Cathedral. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, North Garryowen. The Rosary will be recited at 8 pm Thursday. Mr. Donovan was born Feb. 22, 1892, in the Garryowen-Bernard community and resided in the area all his life. On May 19, 1914, he married Rachel Shannon at LaMotte, Ia. He was a member of St. Raphael's Cathedral parish. Surviving are his wife; five sons, Gerald and Leo Donovan, both of Dubuque, Raymond and Wilfred (Bill) Donovan, both of Bernard, and Al Donovan, Albuquerque, N.M.; two daughters, Mrs. William (Ethel) Feeney and Miss Kathleen Donovan, both of Dubuque; four brothers, Richard Donovan, Dubuque, John and Martin Donovan, both of Lansing, Mich., and Cornelius Donovan, San Francisco, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Rose Barrett, Dubuque, and 19 grandchildren.
