From the February 15, 1922, edition of the Dubuque (IA) Times Journal Funeral Held At Garryowen Cascade, Ia., Feb. 14 -- Maurice Donovan, a life long resident of Butler township, Jackson county, was summoned by death last week after a brief illness. He was a son of the late Richard Donovan and was born on the old homestead in Butler township July 4, 1849. Mr. Donovan spent his entire lifetime in the vicinity of his birth. On June 6, 1882, he was married to Mary Ellen Shannahan, who survives him with the following children, Mrs. John Barrett of Dubuque, Mrs. Louis Finn of Temple Hill; Richard, John, Maurice, Martin and Cornelius, at home. Two daughters preceded him in death. Mr. Donovan was a devout member of the Catholic church, was an honorable and upright citizen and his death is sincerely mourned by a large circle of friends and relatives. The funeral was held at St. Patrick's church, Garryowen, Rev. P.J. Coffey officiating. Image Gallery
