Peggy Ripley senr., Peggy Ripley, junr., of Botetourt County, VA, Mary Ripley (widow of John Ripley decd), Mathias Ripley and Betsy his wife (formerly Betsy Barger), Jacob Ripley, John Ripley and Mary his wife (formerly Mary Waskey), Mary Barger, John Barger, Wm. Preston Barger, Robert Cahoon and Nancy his wife, (late Nancy Barger), John B. Cahoon and Sally his wife, (late Sally Barger), of the county and state, heirs of Mathias Ripley deceased, to Job Bennington of Rockbridge County, VA.
In consideration of $351.00 paid to the heirs by Job Bennington. They convey their interest in the Stone House Place, as follows:
Peggy Ripely, senr, 1/9; Peggy Jr, 1/5 of 1/9 part; Mary Ripley, widow of John Ripley decd, a dower interest of 1/9 part; Mathias Ripley, Jacob Ripley, & John Ripley (sons of the said widow of John Ripley decd) each 1/5 part of 1/9 part; Betsy Ripley, Nancy Cahoon, Polly Barger, Sally Cahoon, John Barger, & Wm. Preston Barger, children of George Barger, each 1/9 of 1/9 part.
The whole tract containing 467 acres more or less, bounded as follows:
Beginning at a dogwood and poplar corner to John Shaver's land, with lines of the same, S 7, E 42 to a white oak, N 43, E 253 poles, crossing a branch and passing a corner of George Crawford's land and with a line of the same, Crossing another branch and passing another corner of sd. Crawford's line,
And with a new line to 2 white oaks with a new line, S 88, W 36 poles, to 2 Black oaks in a line of Jno. Croddy's land, With the lines of same S 44, @ 30 poles to a white oak, N 41, W 78 poles, passing a corner of said Croddy's land, With a new line to a double walnut in a line of John Waskey's land,
With the same, S 1, E 10 poles to 2 white oaks, S 76, W 27 poles to 2 white oaks, N 80 1/2, W 13 poles to a white oak, S 65, W 35 poles to a black oak, N 75 1/2, W 32 to a white oak, S 24, W 46 poles to a white oak, N 1 1/2, W 5 1/2 poles to a white oak, N 31, W 61 poles to 2 white oaks, S 82, W 38 poles to 2 chestnut oaks, S 68, W 90 poles to 2 white oaks corner to James Aughaltrees [Ochiltree] land,
And with a line of his own patent land to a double gum & 2 black oaks,
Then with lines of said land, S 63, E 50 poles to 2 dead hickorys and 2 white oaks, N 85, E 16 poles to a white oak and black oak corner to James Harper's land, With lines of the same, S 64, E 17 poles to 2 white oaks, S 43, W 25 to 2 black oaks, S 45 1/2, E 66 poles through a line to a black oak and hickory at the end of same corner to Henry Garner's land,
With a line of the same, N 58, E 13 poles crossing a branch to a white oak & dogwood corner to sd. Shaver's land,
And with a line of the same, N 59, E 93 poles to the beginning.
Land with all appurtenances to Job Bennington and his heirs forever.

Preston Barger, Robert Cahoon, and John B. Cahoon personally appeared and acknowledged the above deed. 25 August 1840.

Cahoon, personally appeared and were fully examined privily and apart from their husbands and after having the deed fully explained to them, acknowledged the same willingly. 25 August 1840.
