Mary's maiden name and origins have yet to be established. Her first confirmed sighting is in 1743 by which time she was married to Christopher Foot. They had nine children baptised at Bere Ferrers in Devon between 1743 and 1765, although at least three of them died young. Mary was buried on 12th August 1765 at Bere Ferrers, just six months after the baptism of her youngest child.

    There is one other burial which could be this Mary:
    1809 / June the 7 Mary Foot
    However, that 1809 burial appears to be the only plausible burial for Mary Balhatchet, daughter in law of this Mary. We therefore conclude the Mary on this page must be the one who was buried in 1765.
