Humphrey Foot was baptised on 12th February 1745 at Bere Ferrers in Devon, son of Christopher and Mary Foot. He was the second of their nine children. On 1st April 1771, aged 26, Humphrey married Mary Balhatchet. They went on to have eight children together. Mary died in 1809. Humphrey survived her by about thirteen years and died in 1822, aged 76. He was living in the poor house immediately before his death.
