Some Temple Pedigrees, a Genealogy of the Known Descendants of Abraham Temple, Who Settled in Salem, Mass. in 1636, p. 14, erroneously postulates two marriages for Mary, first to William Harris and second to Nathaniel Newton. First, as cited, she died as Mary Harris, so did not marry a second time. Second, the marriage to Nathaniel Newton in 1729 is by a woman named Mary Temple at a time this woman would be named Mary Harris. Third, she is still named Mary Harris in her father's will of 1754. The marriage record in Lancaster is apparently for Mary's sister Mercy, but recorded by the clerk as Mary, as the two names were frequently used interchangeably.
