- Source:Temple, Levi Daniel. Some Temple Pedigrees, a Genealogy of the Known Descendants of Abraham Temple, Who Settled in Salem, Mass. in 1636, p. 15, shows a son John in this family b. "1719(?)", meaning no birth record was found, the birth was estimated. No John is named in the father's will of 1754, and no John Temple is found in the records where Richard lived (except one who d. 1734 in his 54th year, so too old, and a John Temple b. 1725 to another couple. It is not clear why Levi Temple thought there was a son named John in his family, and if there was, which seems doubtful, he clearly died young with no issue.
