Usage Tips

For general information, see the overall page for Massachusetts Vital Records to 1850.

This is one of several compilations of Massachusetts vital records which is not in the standard format (listed alphabetically by surname), but follows the sequence of the various books of town records from which it was taken. However, there are indexes (Places, pp. 441-442 and Persons, pp. 443-496) which facilitate finding the desired record(s).

TAG 17:23: Concord (Mass.) Marriages, 1724; Contributed by Clarence S. Brigham, Director, American Antiquarian Society, Worcester, Mass.

The manuscript Diary of the Rev. john Whiting for 1724, the leaves being removed from a 1724 Almanac, contains nine marriages in Concord, Mass., which do not appear in the Concord Vital Records. The only marriages recorded by the Town during the period 1720 to 1728 were those performed by Justice James Minott or Justice Houghton.
