  3.   Source:Whittemore, Henry. Genealogical Guide to the Early Settlers of America, p. 171, says Francis Eliot of Braintree had children Mary b. 1641, ..., Mary again b. 1653 ... Obviously his daughter Mary that lived would be expected to be the latter one, but it is not clear how Mary b. 1653 could possibly have married in 1662. Since no such record is found in the VR Braintree, the 1653 birth is assumed to be an error. The similarity of the alleged birthdate, 25 Oct 1653 per Savage, Vol. 1, p. 109, and Rachel's recorded birthdate, 26 Oct 1643, combined with Rachel's birth not being recorded until Hannah's in 1651, strongly suggests at some point, somebody misread Rachel's record, created a fictitious daughter Mary that various people have blindly propagated despite being inconsistent with the known date of marriage.
