  3. Mortlake Manor was established in 1687. William Williams resided at the time of marriage in Mortlake. Mortlake Manor was surrounded by Pomfret & Canterbury Towns. In May 1786 via a series of land transactions, the southern half (approx.) was part of the formation of the new Town of Brooklyn, the northern section (for the most part) reverted to Pomfret. William Williams' land likely lay in what became Brooklyn, as he and his wife were buried in South Cemetery in Brooklyn.
