- ↑ According to Sutton VRs, Martha Fletcher of Grafton m. Daniel Chase in 1782. This is a long time after Eleazer Fletcher died in 1770, so this may not refer to this Martha. However, as Daniel Chase was born 1709, and died in 1799 (see Crane, Vol. 3, p. 86, and this is a second marriage for him, he would be of the right age, and this certainly bears investigation.
There are several related genealogies and they all seem to have very incomplete coverage of Martha (e.g., no death date provided), so additional research is needed. Source:Chaplin, Ann Theopold. Bucknam - Buckman Genealogy, p. 200, only lists her first marriage to Thomas Gould. Martha and first husband are not listed in Source:Gould, Benjamin Apthorp. Family of Zaccheus Gould of Topsfield. Source:Fletcher, Edward H. Fletcher Family History : The Descendants of Robert Fletcher of Concord, Mass, p. 154, only lists Eleazer's first two marriages, so never mentions Martha, much less what happens to her after Eleazer dies. Source:Chase, John Carroll. Seven Generations of the Descendants of Aquila and Thomas Chase, p. 89, identifies Daniel Chase's second wife as "Martha Fletcher of Grafton, probably a widow". Whoever this was, his widow Martha declined to administrate his estate, so survived him (Worcester Probate 11229).
- ↑ Martha's parentage is shown by the probate of her first husband (Worcester Probate 25053). The 1755 will of Thomas Gould names "my Father in Law Mr Jeremiah Bucknam" as executor.
