In every case, the baptism date is such that it appears to go with the birth in the same year, but the names, and even the genders, don't match. Source:Benedict, William Addison. History of the Town of Sutton, Massachusetts, from 1704 to 1876, p. 652, appears to have only consulted the birth records. The will of Thomas' father names his grandchildren, namely Stephen Gould, Simeon Gould, Martha Gould, Hannah Gould and Ruth Gould.
Based on the order in the will, it seems probable Hannah is older than Ruth. Simeon had a child born 1771, so this suggests his birth in 1750 is probably correct. This leaves Hannah is the problem child. The birth wants to make her a twin with Ruth, while the baptism wants to make her a twin with Simeon, but intuitively she would appear to best fit about 1752 halfway between Simeon and Ruth. Further information about the children may suggest further changes.
