Maria Burtsal who married Arthur Lindoe Womack was the widow of Henry Burtsal of Rose Hall, Bungay, who died in 1847. She was born Maria Chapman in 1787 in Burlingham, Norfolk, and married Henry on 10 (or possibly 16) July 1812 in Woodbastwick, Norfolk. They had no children. She seems to have married Arthur Womack from the house of her nephew, who was a miller in Strumpshaw, Norfolk. In the 1871 census, the Emily Burtsal who was staying with her in Mettingham was her husband's niece, who lived in Bungay. 1841 - With husband at Upper Olland St, Bungay (Holy Trinity), Suffolk. Aged 45, not born in the county. 1871 - MI records her age as 84. Buried with husband, also unmarried sister-in-law Matilda and nephew James (son of Eliza). Large casket grave. Will proved at Ipswich 8 April 1872 by James Arthur ALDOUS of Lingwood, Norfolk, farmer, sole executor. |
