Kathryn was born September 15, 1926 in Spur, Texas to the late Robert E. and Cordelia M. (Boothe) Jones. She was a graduate of Lubbock High School. She married George Tate on June 20, 1946 in Clovis, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 2006. Mrs. Tate was a secretary at Monterey High School until her retirement in 1990.

She leaves behind her daughters, Jenny Tate of San Diego, Calif. and Beverly Tate Cook of Lubbock; four granddaughters, Kimberly and husband Austin Jones, Kelli and husband Justin Dickson of Lubbock, Cori and Brittany Tate of San Diego, Calif.; great-granddaughter Ainsley of Lubbock. Also surviving is her brother Delwin Jones and wife Reta of Lubbock. A brother and two sisters preceded her in death.
