Ogemaw County Herald, West Branch, Ogemaw Co., MI (Josephine Fritz Collection) "PIONEER PASSES THIS LIFE Mrs. Henry Mier died at her home in this city, Thursday morning at 3:45, at the age of 72 years. This beloved old lady was born in Bruce County, Ont. About five years after her marriage to Henry Mier, they came to West Branch Township, Ogemaw County, and have lived here since. She was a devoted mother to her family, and a very industrious worker all through life, but the greatest of all, she was a Christian living woman in every respect and never left many of her good and noble work undone. The deceased is survived by a beloved husband and eight children: Joseph, Tony, Frank, Ollie, and Patrick Mier, of West Branch; Three daughters, Mrs. Leonard Buhlman and Mrs. Herbert Hennen, of this city, and Mrs. Chas. J. Beck of Rogers Park, Chicago. Other than the children she leaves two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Conrad Mier of this city, and Mrs. James Relihan, of Superior, Wis.; Wm Wangler of West Branch township and Joseph Wangler of Bruce County, Canada; also fifteen grandchildren nieces and nephews. For this good life lived let us crown her grave with garlands. Few of us will live as long or as well, and few yet will the Angel of Death meet with such a loving touch. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Monday morning, Rev. Fr. Hasenberg, Rev. Fr. Miller of Klacking and Rev. Fr. Lobory of Standish officiating at Solemn High Mass.

"Then fell upon the house a sudden gloom, A shadow on those features fair and thin; And softly, from that hushed and darkened room, Two angels issued where but one went in."
