WILLIAM WANGLER DIED JANUARY 12 Wm Wangler, one of our most highly esteemed and respected residents of Ogemaw county, passed this life Thursday morning, Jan, 12, at the age of 70 years, 10 months and 22 days He was born in Carlshor, Ontario Feb 20 1862, son of Joseph and Emma Guiger. He came to this country at the age of 15 years, when this place was but a near wilderness, and worked for George Sherman an old homesteader, also for Frank Parliament, and from then on followed the lumbering business chiefly until in the year 1885 when he purchased land in Chruchill township _____ at that time was a heavily wooded section without a bit of cleared land and only a footpath for a road. At this time he married and with his bride commenced the undertaking of making a home for themselves. Here he spent 32 years and fully succeeded in carrying out his intentions besides rearing a large family of children. Then in 1919 he with his family moved to what is now one of the most modern and beautiful farm homes in Ogemaw. He was married in 1885 to Caroline Hihen of Mildmay, Ontario, and to this union 15 children were born, two having passed away in infancy. Surviving are his wife and thirteen children: Mrs. Mary Hagerman, Mrs. Josephine Reetz, Mrs. Emma Robinson, Joseph L. Wangler, Mrs. Elizabeth Smith of Flint, Mrs. Millie Morgan, Mrs. Dell Goulet of Pontiac, Edward Wangler, Phillip Wangler, Mrs. Phoebie Smith, Albert Wangler and Mrs. Ada Trout, also 51 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters still survive, Mrs. Conrad Mier of West Branch and Mrs. James Reliham of Superior, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
