Ogemaw County Herald "His head crushed Michael Wangler was killed by a falling timber at a barn raising at the home of his brother Frank Wednesday afternoon. The stick 16 foot long and 10 inches square was being raised to position with pike poles in hands of a dozen men when it rolled and came down with all it's weight on the unfortunate man's head. Without breaking the skin his scull was crushed and his fellow workmen picked up the insensible form and carried it to the house. Doctors were hurriedly sent for, and during the afternoon four of our local physicians responded, but all to no avail. Mr Wangler's injuries were of a fatal nature at three o"clock next morning he passed away. Deceased was one of Klacking townships most properous farmers, and his taking away in so shocking a manner has cast a gloom over the community. He leaves a wife and five children the oldest of which is a girl of 14 years, three brothers Frank, Will and Andrew are all residence of the same neighborhood." |
