    9 May 1726: Account listing charges, including "bring up of ye children & for Expence & tendance of five children in time of sicknes and for funaral charges for two of said Children Decased", assented to by "John Houghton Esq'r the father of s'd dece'd", "sensible of ye Exterordaniery sicknes that been amonge said children".   3. Almost nothing is known of Joseph except his birth, and his probate file, and what can be derived from those. He seems to have no deeds (though his inventory shows considerable real estate), no marriage record, the births of his (at least 5) children are not recorded. Source:Houghton, John Wesley. Houghton Genealogy, p. 302, lists his birth and nothing else. Deeds involving his daughter Sarah (see Sarah's page) indicate that he married his cousin Isabella Houghton, but when and who his other children were (except Benjamin as indicated by another deed, see his page) has not been located. The father Joseph is easy to confuse with Joseph of Milton because he had many land transactions with Lancaster inhabitants, but the Milton man is a son of Ralph.
