John II moved to PA where he served in the Revolutionary War. After the war he received a land grant near Jacob's Creek near the Shankle's farm in Albemarle NC. They moved to Montgomery County, now Stanly County, NC.
The 1784-87 census and 1784 tax list show John II.
He is in the 1800 NC census.

Notes for John A. Swearingen: Appears on the muster roll of Maryland Capitan Joseph Chapline for July 1757. After the French & Indian war he moved to PA. where he apparently met Elizabeth Shankle, whom he married in 1774. They then moved to NC.
